NUSA LEMBONGAN - INDONESIA

The Island of Nusa Lembongan is located off the East Coast of Bali. The waves are nothing short of epic and offer a welcome escape form the hustle and bustle of Bali. With a number of waves to choose from, this small island is well worth the trip.

Getting to the waves: Nusa Lembongan is best accessed via Bali. Boats depart daily from Benoa Harbour at Sanur. Travellers have the option of more expensive fast boats as well as cheaper, slower (and somewhat slightly less sea worthy) modes of watercraft.

SHIPWRECKS

Direction: Right Reef Break
Experience: Expert
Season: Dry Season
Bali Bible Rating: ****1/2

Shipwrecks is one of the premier waves on the Island of Nusa Lembongan providing a fun high performance right hand reef break. Best suited to experienced surfers or upper level confident intermediates, the wave provides a quick barrelling wall with the potential to dish out severe consequences on the lower tide.

LACERATIONS

Direction: Right hand reef break
Experience: Expert
Season: Dry Season
Bali Bible Rating: *****

As the name would suggest, Lacerations has the potential to dish out a serious beating. Many a good surfer have found themselves on the receiving end of a good lashing with the razor sharp reef cutting people up like a 3am visit to Kings Cross. Despite its obvious dangers, lacerations offers deep barrel sections with many crew claiming stand up hollow caverns. Often referred to as Nusa Lembongans’s right handed Padang Padang, Lacerations is not for the inexperienced and is better surfed towards the end of ones trip once the eye is in and confidence is peaking (and when injury will only effect the last few days of the trip).

PLAYGROUNDS

Direction: Right & left hand reef breaks
Experience: Beginner to intermediate
Season: Dry Season
Bali Bible Rating: ****

Playgrounds offers super fun left and right hand peaks for all levels and abilities and is a perfect option for those looking for a less critical, more fun session. Whilst it is considered one of the more mellow waves on Nusa Lembongan, on the right tide and swell direction it often throws down some nice barrel sections.
