Afternoon tea from 2pm- 5pm only, special occasions may be complemented by Orchid’s Traditional Afternoon Tea, offering a contemporary fusion of Balinese and Western delicacies including fruit tartlets, sandwiches, and classic kue. Guests may choose from Orchid’s hot Dilmah Tea Selection, gourmet Coffee Specialties, fresh pressed juices, and refreshing Iced Tea flavors including rosella, lychee and lemon ginger.

Orchid is an idyllic indoor venue for private parties such as bridal gatherings, especially after an inspiring afternoon spent at the adjacent Cooking School. Celebratory libations include seven delightful concoctions from The Lounge Favorites. Green Tea Mojito sets the mood with an innovative mixture of rum, green tea liqueur, green tea syrup, fresh mint leaves, and fresh lime, while Kopi Bali; a heady presentation of arak, crème de cacao white, black coffee, brown sugar, and cream, highlight Bali’s favorite locally produced spirit.

Premium hospitality at it's best from one of Indonesia's most experienced hotel groups

When seeking romance and relaxation on your next trip to Bali, look no further than The Archipelago Hotel Group’s top end hotel brand, Kamuela Villas. With properties in Seminyak, Ubud and Sanur, you can choose a villa at the location that you and your other half desire. Buzzy and trendy Seminyak, serene and spiritual Ubud or low key and beachy Sanur. Each property has been designed with romance in mind, with facilities to maximise privacy and enjoyment. The Archipelago group, previously the Aston Group with 100 properties across Indonesia, Malaysia and the Phillipines has many years experience in hospitality catering to holiday makers. It’s the little things that set Kamuela apart- the 15 minute head and neck massage for all guests on arrival, the personalised breakfast from a large menu including espresso coffee delivered to your room each morning and the warm family feel each resort has it’s own way of creating.  Kamuela are great at creating a real VIP experience. Each private villa is self contained and includes a living area, kitchenette, bar fridge, television and pool. The ultimate in bedding and linen has been sourced to ensure a good nights sleep throughout your stay. Each and every room has a large Jacuzzi big enough for two to relax their muscles and joints together. Each property also offers a spa complex with the best of Bali’s Spa treatments, all services done in the comfort of a serene and polished specialty spa area. From Balinese massage to facials- you won’t be disappointed!

With luxury and location, The Royal Kamuela Villas Ubud is a highlight among the Archipelago Group. The world famous Monkey Forest Road location is a huge draw card of the property although it’s hard to leave the comfort and privacy of your own private villa. Each of the 6 one bedroom villas is designed with privacy and intimacy as a priority and the entire resort is exclusive to adults. Each villa is built around a lap pool with the bedroom set pool side and a side pool entry from the Jacuzzi area. The bathroom has a ‘his and hers’ basin, spacious shower and large Jacuzzi on the side of the pool designed for two. It’s obvious that this Kamuela property was built with honeymooners and romance in mind. Common areas are limited, encouraging couples to focus on sharing quality time. One of the most charming features of The Royal Kamuela Villas Ubud is the in-room breakfast. It can be ordered the night before with it served at your nominated time in-room by your butler. Spend the rest of the day enjoying your villa, the hotel spa and in the evening book in for their BBQ or head to Ubud’s enclave of trendy restaurants. Did we mention that the cute monkey’s from Ubud’s Monkey Forest often come to play at the villas in the morning?

For more low-key couples looking for all the bells and whistles of their own private villa coupled with a resort feel, Kamuela Sanur is the only choice. The Sanur property has 1,2 and 3 bedroom private villas as well as Jacuzzi suites. Each are self contained and ensure maximum privacy. This property is popular with couples who want to explore the area whilst having the option to stay in and spend time in lush accommodation. The common pool area is spacious with a pool bar and café surrounded by lush greenery and day beds. Each villa has all the features that Kamuela Villas offer- private pool, butler service, kitchenette and in-room dinning with access also to a larger common pool area which is perfect for all-day lounging. The Jacuzzi suites are also luxurious with large floor space including outdoor areas and outdoor Jacuzzis. We love the romantic dinner for two which is set next to a pool lit up with floating candles. Caramel restaurant on the street front is also a brilliant option for dining, a contemporary menu in a stylish setting and also great value. It is also popular with outside guests and a popular walk in restaurant in Sanur. Private villa or Jacuzzi suite, it’s safe to say either option won’t disappoint with Kamuela Sanur’s warm hospitality making your stay a memorable one. Kamuela Sanur has so many repeat guests yearly that we’ve heard some guests book their next stay before they leave!

In Seminyak, Kamuela Villas consists of 1 and 2 bedroom villas, with a property expanding over both sides of Jalan Bali Deli. It is highly accessible from Jalan Raya Seminyak where you will find some of the best dining in Bali, with many options for romantic dining in trendy beachside restaurants. The stunning stretch of Seminyak beach is also highly accessible and the perfect place to catch the sunset each night.  Each private villa has a private pool, kitchenette, indoor Jacuzzi bath and butler service allowing complete privacy and romance. Each of the one bedroom villas features a striking coloured pool- there is a red, a blue and an orange. The one bedroom villas also feature a BBQ terrace where you can book a BBQ meal to be cooked for you. The spacious 2 bedroom villas are the perfect choice for two couples travelling together with separate bedrooms located across a pool with a large and comfortable living area including a dinning area and kitchenette. Each villa also has a massage table and massages can be arranged in-room to allow maximum privacy and relaxation. The Seminyak Kamuela property is forever stylish with contemporary design features set amongst some Balinese touches.

Each Kamuela property offers unique features, however they all share the ability to exceed your expectations and make your stay a memorable one. The high romance factor is definitely one of our favourite things about the Kamuela properties but it has to be the seem-less VIP service and family feel hospitality that makes us want to go back. If you’re looking for the perfect villas to share quality time and up the romance with your partner, Kamuela is the answer.

Do you LOVE Balinese flavours? Now you can buy authentic Bali flavours in a bottle!

Do you LOVE Balinese flavours? Now you can buy authentic Bali flavours in a bottle!

Being extremely passionate about Bali, we love and adore everything about this island and when we came across the flavours these two were able to create, we simply had to share it with our audience...

We liken it to the incredible smell your washing has after you get it washed in Bali just before you head... it's simply authentic, unique and reminds you of that special place. The duo have somehow done a similar thing with their incredible sauces.

GO-JEK:  Your One Stop App For All Of Your BALI Needs

Bali time goes fast and don’t we know it. Let’s face it, things can take a long time when you’re navigating traffic that appears with no rhyme or rhythm through out the day and drinks breaks need to be pretty frequent. Ever wish you could hire someone to run chores for you so that you can spend each and every moment lying by the pool, enjoying sunsets and sneaking Bintangs in between massages? Someone to send off into the chaotic, hot streets of Bali to pick up a bag of ice to make frozen margaritas with, or maybe you just want someone to go down the road to grab you one of the best burgers in town. If not, you’ve probably at least wished for a scooter taxi that knows exactly where you are when you order him, that you can contact by phone and who offers a pre-determined, fair fixed price.

GO-JEK is the solution. They provide transport, courier, shopping and food delivery all accessible to you via a few taps on your smartphone screen. A concept original to Indonesia, GO-JEK has recently become available in Bali. Born in Jakarta (where the traffic is said to be the worst in the world), the service is an absolute necessity in Bali now that it has arrived. ‘Ojeks’ or classic bike taxis have been around for a while. But some of you may already have noticed the influx of green helmet and jacket-ed drivers, cruising the streets on scooters, taking passengers, in restaurants buying take- aways for home delivery orders, in offices delivering documents, or in malls doing shopping.

GO-JEK is a social enterprise that solves underemployment in the traditional ojek sector by partnering with a group of experienced and trustworthy ojeks to deliver convenience in the form of transportation, courier, and personal shopping services for customers in Bali. GO-JEK is revolutionising the logistics and transport industry by providing these drivers with mobile smartphones and mobile banking, to enable them to work anytime, anywhere. The drivers are equipped with Android devices which are used to locate the closest driver to minimize delivery time through a geo-location algorithm.

You can hire them to get you from place to place just using a smart phone app which communicates to the driver your exact location. You can preview the rate and pay cashless via GO-JEK credit (which can be topped up via the app) or pay the driver by cash. The rates are better than ojeks on the street and significantly better than a taxi. The fee from Kuta to Seminyak comes to a teeny tiny 10,000rp ($0.70USD). You can see the driver’s picture, contact your driver by phone and they carry a spare helmet for the passenger at all times.

For your couriering and personal shopping needs you can have your driver transport anything from A to B that fits on a motorcycle.  Drivers carry a float of 1 million Rupiah at all times which means you can send drivers to pick up anything from a case of Bintang to a DVD to some dry cleaning and a bag of ice to make frozen margaritas with.

The GO-JEK food delivery service GO-FOOD also has a network of 2700 food outlets all around Bali so you’ll never get caught hungry again. When you have people coming over and you haven’t had time to put together a spread send your new green-helmeted friend to the supermarket. Or when you wake up with a nasty Bali hangover order a Switch sandwich straight to your villa, all without putting on clothes and leaving the comfort of AC. With GO-FOOD you can access take-away that will be paid for by the GO-JEK driver upon pick up, up to the value of 1 million rupiah and your food will be delivered within 60minutes.

In addition to this and also available in Bali, GO-BOX is an on-demand service from GO-BOX for ordering pickup trucks and vans to move your large items. We can pick up your items anywhere in Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, or Bali and deliver them to up to 15 drop off points anywhere within Java and Bali. With transparent pricing, real-time tracking, and insurance for every shipment, GO-BOX is the most convenient solution for your bigger delivery needs.

Other services offered by GO-JEK include GO-MART which is an on-demand shopping delivery service that allows you to shop all your needs from various types of retail stores. Items can be selected through a user friendly GO-JEK mobile app. And don't forget that you will get your items delivered right to your doorstep within 60 minutes. GO-JEK is planning will soon be expanding into a number of other convenient services that you soon won’t be able to live without. GO-GLAM provides the best on-demand beauty service, enabling users to fulfill their various needs in beauty. GO-CLEAN provides the best on-demand professional daily cleaning service, and lastly GO-MASSAGE provides the best on-demand professional massage. All these services are currently only available in Jakarta but will be making their way to Bali soon.

So who, what, how, when and where? There are currently over 11,000 GO-JEK drivers doing the rounds in Bali based everywhere from Denpasar, Canggu, Seminyak, Oberoi, Petitenget, Kuta, Nusa Dua, Sanur, Uluwatu and Ubud. There are over 690 drivers based in the Ubud area alone with a recruitment office for drivers recently opened to keep up with demand. GO-JEK and GO-FOOD is the ultimate in transport all accessible anytime and anywhere with just a few taps on a smartphone screen.

And why? Because Bali time is precious and delegation is the key!

Follow @gojekindonesia in either Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for news and updates. The GO-JEK app is available to download by visiting www.go-jek.com/app on your iOS or Android device.

An insider's Guide to Lembongan

An insider's Guide to Lembongan

We LOVE Bali and everything it has to offer... but sometimes it's nice to venture off the beaten track and experience a little of what Indonesia has to offer. After visiting a few of the Islands multiple times we thought we'd share a little insight from the friends we've met along the way and get a bit of an insider's guide to one of our favourite islands... Lembongan.

Nadia Judd has been involved with villas, the community and Bali / Lembongan life for many years now and is the resident expert when it comes to venturing to this beautiful island. Be.low is a little interview and insight provided by Nadia.

  1. You try to negotiate the taxi fare home from the airport and are disappointed when the driver isn’t blasting 90’s dance music out of oversized speakers.
  2. It becomes very annoying that you can’t turn to just about anyone on the street and ask for a scooter/surfing lessons/driver/viagra and have it turn up within seconds.
  3. ‘Let’s meet at sunset’ is no longer a valid meeting time and you hesitantly resort back to using the clock.

Introducing ilLido Bali, the hot young Bali based sibling of ilLido Singapore comes to Seminyak

The Bali Bible welcomes to ilLido Bali, the hot young Bali based sibling of ilLido Singapore to Seminyak. For 10 years now ilLido Singapore has been the go to for Italian fare in South East Asia. Fortunately for Bali bound fans of both fine dinning and traditional Italian fare, ilLido has opened its doors at the former Warisan site. Landing itself in one the most sought after, iconic spots in Seminyak, ilLido has already piqued the curiosity of many. A ready established name and reputation coupled with an iconic destination, at ilLido you will find Italian cuisine that is a perfect fusion of the traditional and the contemporary with cocktails and wines to match.

Renowned restaurateur Beppe De Vito created the original ilLido atop a high cliff of Singapore’s Sentosa Island. Engulfing dinners with views of seas, skies and greenery the elegant restaurant showcases Italian Gastronomy at it’s best. Inspired by the playful and leisurely Island vibes of Venice’s Lido Island and Singapore’s Sentosa Island ilLido the restaurant has always been an unpretentious hot spot for fine dinning. Over the past 20 years, De Vito has created some of Singapore’s most established and acclaimed dining destinations. He is a pioneer of the Italian dining scene in Singapore, having opened ilLido in Sentosa 10 years ago, when the dining scene was just starting and destination dining was still a foreign concept. ilLido quickly established itself as a highly sought-after dining institution and continues to set the gold standard for Italian cuisine in Singapore. De Vito’s growing stable of restaurants and bars currently stands at 6, which includes the highly anticipated 9000-square-feet Aura at National Gallery, Singapore that will open by 1 October this year.

In Bali ilLido encompasses all of the principles of it’s Singaporean sibling along with the best of the Balinese hospitality and refined Italian elegance. This 200-seater restaurant and bar is an uber-chic, relaxed Italian dining locations that sets one of the best benchmarks in town for authentic Italian food and value for money. “ilLido Bali is about staying true to the quintessential Italian soul while breaking away from the stereotypical perception of what an Italian restaurant should look or have on the menu. We want to be the first real Italian restaurant in town. That’s evident from our insistence to the quality of the food and beverage selection we have on offer as well as our affable, non-snobbish service and atmosphere,” says De Vito.

ilLido Bali’s extraordinary selection of classic Italian cuisine, world-class wines and craft cocktails makes it a welcome Italian addition to the buzzy Seminyak enclave of trendy restaurants. Stepping into ilLido Bali, the welcoming and relaxed atmosphere transports us to an enchanting summertime in Italy. Having taken over the iconic location of Kafe Warisan, the revamped space - in dulcet tones of mahogany, deep grey and bronze and in timbered furniture made with the finest teak - is an all-new vision of contemporary Italian luxury blended with traditional Indonesian architecture. We also love ilLido Bali’s sun-kissed courtyard, surrounded by lush trees and a spacious portico in terracotta floors, making it the perfect spot for chic alfresco dining. A charming 24-seater pergola, entangled with vines and flowers, is an intimate alfresco area for dining under the Bali sky. The sprawling restaurant and bar also caters to private parties and events of up to 300 guests, as well as catering at external venues for special occasions.

“Italian food is about exalting the natural flavours of the ingredients; our main focus in our kitchen is the produce - the freshness, the provenance and the seasonality of the ingredients,” defines De Vito who created the menu in conjunction with Italian chef Luca Masini. We were impressed with the selection of appetizers presented in sharing portions, emphasizing the restaurant’s emphasis on quality. The Grilled Octopus with Nduja is a modern interpretation of an age-old Venetian favorite; the soft, smoky heat of the homemade Nduja amplifies the succulence of the grilled octopus for a truly satisfying dish. Other sharing plates include the homemade Pumpkin Gnocchi Gratin and the Bone Marrow, Salsa Verde and Radish Crostini, which are perfect for groups of friends or family to commune over meals. In true Italian tradition, all the pastas on the menu are homemade daily, such as the Ricotta Cheese Tortelli that is paired with an authentic, home-style amatriciana sauce. Moving onwards to mains, the Black Cod with Prawn Cacciuco is a scrumptious homage to the emblematic fish soup of the Tuscan coast while the Angus Beef Tenderloin with Bone Marrow Crust is a must-try from the original menu of ilLido Singapore. All appetizers, served sharing-style, are available all day from 11:30am with main courses served only for lunch and dinner.

The adjoining bar, stylishly decked with chic plush seats and lit by a warm soft glow, is an all-day destination for relaxed conversations or buzzy catch-ups over ilLido Bali’s extensive selection of sharing appetizers, world-class wines, fine spirits and craft cocktails. Each and every cocktail on the menu is an original creation of ilLido Singapore’s very own mixologist Jody Adler and features unique homemade infusions with fresh tropical fruits. ‘One Night in Bali’ is a refreshing tipple of ilLido Bali’s own home-infused cinnamon-and-star-anise vodka, pineapple juice, coconut and lime, while the ‘Balini’, a delicious combination of Prosecco and guava, is a twist on the popular aperitif Bellini. The wine list is a swoon-worthy compilation of the best in Old and New World wines, with a strong emphasis on Old World Italian classics such as Barolo, Brunello and Amarone and France’s Bordeaux and Burgundy.

We really think ilLido Bali has managed the restaurant trifecta- great food, great drinks and great atmosphere. Call in for cocktails and a lite bite throughout the day or for Italian fine dinning to be enjoyed over a few courses.  The choice is yours. A three-course set menu is available daily for lunch at IDR180,000 per person.

ilLido Bali is located at 38 Jalan Raya Kerobokan, Banjar Taman, Kuta, 80361 Bali, Indonesia. Reservations can be made via info@illidobali.com or by calling +62 361 731175.

Introducing Saigon Street, Bali’s New Dining Hotspot

We’re pretty excited about this new addition to the Seminyak dining scene… Introducing Saigon Street!

Situated in the heart of the dining and entertaining scene of Seminyak and Petitenget, this new restaurant and bar is definitely on our ‘to visit’ list.

The man behind this exciting new addition is Aki Kotzamichalis, an entrepreneur from Melbourne who was an integral part of the success and running of Kudeta, is leveraging his entrepreneurial skills and footprints in Bali with one of the most exciting additions yet! By pairing one of Australia’s most talented chef’s with one of their most talented designers to create Saigon Street, Authentic Vietnamese restaurant.

The menu at Saigon features light, fresh and healthy dishes to be savoured and dishes to be shared and with good reason it is on our 'must do' list - borrowing from both Executive Chef Geoff Lindsay's Melbourne eatery Dandelion (an award winning restaurant in Elwood) and traditional Vietnamese flavour combinations, foodies will enjoy a wonderfully intoxicating combination of the raw and the cooked, the hot and the cold, the sweet and sour.

Dining at Saigon is an experience not just because of the delicious and classic spins they have re-created with their food but because of the fresh, appealing design created by award winning Australian interior designer, Alex Zabotto-Bentley. For those fortunate enough to book a spot here, a visual feast for the eyes and with meticulous attention to detail, design enthusiasts can relish and relax amongst an interior that juxtaposes Saigon, Barcelona and Buenos Aires.

For all our fans, we highly recommend their succulent Green Rice Fried Prawns, Soft Shell Crab Rice Paper Rolls and Pork Belly simmered with caramel and pepper in a clay pot… mmm mouth watering!

Saigon Street is located at JL Petitenget Raya No 77X, Kerobokan Bali and to book you should email info@saigonstreetbali.com well in advance!

VIRGIN AUSTRALIA FLIGHT UPDATE

Update as at 9:30am AEST Wednesday 15 July 2015

UPDATE ON FLIGHTS BETWEEN AUSTRALIA AND DENPASAR (BALI)

The latest advice from our team of meteorologists and the Volcanic Ash Advisory Centre is that conditions in the vicinity of Denpasar Airport remain favourable for flying despite further eruptions at Mt Raung last night.

Additional flights have been scheduled today to ensure we can have guests on their way as soon as possible. A full list of flights is included below.

Given the ongoing volcanic eruption at Mt Raung, Virgin Australia has offered to waive all fare differences for guests who are booked to travel to Denpasar by 28 July 2015 and wish to switch their travel to one of 12 other island and coastal holiday destinations. Guests can learn more about this option by contacting the Guest Contact Centre on 13 67 89 (from Australia).

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR GUESTS IN DENPASAR (BALI):

Virgin Australia is advising guests currently in Bali not to travel to Denpasar Airport without a confirmed rebooked flight. Guests will be updated about their flight options via SMS.

Further information

Guests whose flights have been cancelled as a result of the volcanic activity will be able to change their booking to another date or alternative destination within 30 days without fee or receive a full travel credit by contacting our Guest Contact Centre on 13 67 89 (from Australia), 00 1803 061 2002* or +61 7 3295 2296 from other international locations.

15 July update – Flights between Australia and Bali

We plan to operate scheduled and additional services today (15 July) between Denpasar (Bali) and Australia, subject to flying conditions remaining safe.

Please see below for instructions on how to book seats on additional services.

Jetstar plans to operate 19 flights in and out of Bali today, including 11 flights home from Bali to Australia.

Qantas also commenced special relief flights from Bali on Tuesday night to assist in bringing Jetstar customers back to Australia

IMPORTANT: Jetstar customers who arrive back in Australia on one of these services will be accommodated on connecting Jetstar or Qantas domestic services to their home city.

Together, Qantas and Jetstar will be able to bring over 3,000 more customers back to Australia with additional and existing services, if flying conditions remain as they are currently.

This will bring the total number of customers returned to Australia by the Qantas Group to more than 7,000 since services resumed on Monday 12 July 2015.

Jetstar will continue to closely monitor the situation with the Volcanic Ash Authority Centre (VAAC), and cancellations may occur if conditions prevent safe operations.

As we’ve seen during the past fortnight, the ash cloud’s movement is highly unpredictable.

The latest forecast is predicting unfavourable conditions may return later in the week.

Thats a wrap! Some Epic shots from the Komune Bali Pro presented by the Mad Hueys

The world's best one star, also known as the 2nd annual Komune Bali Pro presented by the Mad Hueys was another powerful success with great weather, pumping waves and plenty of free booze around the pool.

All the legends that made it out to Komune to watch the comp go down were treated to a show of high performance surfing by some of the best in the world. With a stacked field including world tour competitors Taj Burrow and Jay Davies as well as a bevy of local shredders and upcoming talents, the action out in the water was nearly as hot as the action in the pool after the onshore came up each day.

Uluwatu Surf Villas will play host to one of the biggest events on the island this year. Gerry Lopez, AKA Mr Pipeline is returning to the majestic Uluwatu whose waves he pioneered in the 70’s. Although this time he is taking to dry land. Mr. Pipeline will be hosting ‘Yoga with Aloha’, a one week yoga retreat in June held at Uluwatu Surf Villas where people will have the opportunity to breathe deeply, back bend and balance a week away under the guidance of Gerry, a yogi from way back.

The new kid on the block, The Butchers Club brings their epic burgers to Bali.

Welcome to the Butchers Club... Not only are these juicy bacon cheeseburgers made using The Butchers Club’s own brand of dry-aged Black Angus beef from New South Wales, Australia, but the patties are also minced fresh to order in front of the customer, before being thrown back to the kitchen and grilled to a perfect medium - that’s still nice and pink in the middle.

The concept came about through The Butchers Club’s desire to practise nose-to-tail butchery. After the primary cuts of beef have been used for the restaurant’s signature dry-aged steaks, gorgeous secondary cuts of rump, chuck and brisket are first dry-aged and then marinated in The Butchers Club’s secret seasoning mix before being ground in a huge old-fashioned grinder right in front of the customer.

A burger at The Butchers Club Burger is like nothing you have ever tasted. The Black Angus cattle are fed on a diet of organic hormone-free and antibiotic-free pasture, which is supplemented by organic grain, creating a flavour that is totally unique to The Butchers Club.
